All HSDS classes are every Sunday at the Melody Club. Click here to view our weekly class schedule. We offer lessons for beginner to advanced dancers. No partner necessary! Our weekly Sunday dance is 8:30-10:30pm following the lessons and is open to everyone! NEW beginner's lindy hop series  (Lindy 1a) starts the first Sunday of every month at 7:30pm!!

The Texas A&M Swing Cats are hosting a new and exciting workshop, Aggie Stomp on December 2-4, 2011! It's featuring ALL TEXAS INSTRUCTORS: Brian Eley, Shannon Jabczynski, Stephen Jean, Joanna Lucero, Maggie Martin, and Josue Romero!! Also, start working on your competition face, they'll be having some great comps with great prizes to your favorite events!! Registration is open!

 Austin, TX, Lonestar Championships - January 12-15th, 2012.
Lone Star Championships is a competition weekend dedicated to social dancing with a party atmosphere. All of the contests are social dance competitions. No stress on your part, no need to prepare a routine, just come enjoy the weekend. Spontaneous, creative, amazing.

Lonestar is really about the joy of dance and celebrating all levels of dancers. Competitions are a great way of focusing your energy on becomming a better dancer, and they're not just reserved for the elite or those who want to become professionals. At Lonestar, some of the most fun comps are the Newcommers, where you get to see or participate in the growth of new dancers. It's electric! So, focus your energy and take a leap into this great opportunity! If you're still not ready for competitions, that's ok too. There are plenty of classes and great dancers at the event to elevate your skills! No one ever became a great dancer by sitting on the couch. So, get out there and have some fun!

Are you ready for Lights in the Heights? HSDS dancers return to this great neighborhood event, December 10th 6-9pm. This year's location is at 722 Woodland Street. We'll be playing all your favorite swing tunes and dancing outdoors to help usher in this festive season!

Lindyfest is on it's way! HSDS is proud to announce that Lindyfest will be held March 15th-18th, 2012! Registration will open in mid-December and we'll have some great early bird registration pricing available!  But there will only be a limited number available. So, make sure you're in the loop by signing up for our Lindyfest newsletter, as we'll announce registration opening there first!

Also, we are excited to announce that Lindyfest will be moving locations to the beautiful and spacious Intercontinental Hotel! But wait, we're also moving all the classes there, too! So, no more bus rides and (hopefully) no more overturned-oil-tanker-traffic-jams!

Lindyfest is an intensive and fun lindy hop weekend workshop jammed packed with classes for all dance levels, soul sessions with living legends, hot performances and four endless nights of dancing. Lindyfest brings in hundreds of dancers from all across the globe to learn lindy hop from the masters and experience the excitement of Lindy Hop, all here in Houston.

HSDS is taking nominations for our Board of Directors. This group of seven elected members is responsible for bringing you great events like our annual workshop Lindyfest, weekend workshops, Harvest Moon Ball, as well a s shaping our regular classes and dances.

The Houston Swing Dance Society is an organization of dedicated individuals who have a common appreciation and love of swing dancing and the Swing Dance Era. We are proud to be a part of the local arts community that makes Houston a richer place to live and visit.

Since its inception HSDS has been governed by a board of directors whose members are actively involved in all aspects of the organization. All day-to-day operations of HSDS are under the supervision of a seven member Board of Directors who have been elected in the past two years.
